Barcelona vs Real Madrid Clasico 2-1: Mbappe double seals Real win
Kylian Mbappe struck twice late on as Real Madrid beat Barcelona 2-1 in the Clasico. Jose Mourinho marked the La Liga win with a knee-slide celebration in Barcelona.
Barcelona vs Real Madrid Clasico 2-1 ended with Kylian Mbappe delivering the decisive moment, as his late double gave Real Madrid a famous La Liga victory over Barcelona. The result brought Clasico glory for Real and sparked a memorable celebration from Jose Mourinho in Barcelona.
Barcelona had gone into the fixture aiming to make La Liga history against their great rivals, while Mourinho’s Real Madrid were looking to end their winning run. By the final whistle, Mbappe’s finishing had settled one of football’s biggest matches.
Mbappe turns the Clasico late
Mbappe’s late strike proved central to the match result, with his double taking Real Madrid to a 2-1 win over Barcelona. In a fixture often defined by narrow margins, the France forward supplied the cutting edge when Real needed it most.
The Clasico carried added weight because of Barcelona’s stated ambition to make La Liga history against Real Madrid. That aim was stopped by a late Real Madrid surge, led by Mbappe, who turned the contest in his side’s favour.
For Real Madrid, this was more than a routine league result. A 2-1 Clasico win over Barcelona carries significance in any season, and the manner of the victory made it especially notable: late goals, a star forward deciding the game, and a dramatic reaction from the touchline.
Mourinho celebrates Real Madrid’s statement win
Jose Mourinho’s response underlined the scale of the moment. After Mbappe’s late intervention earned Real Madrid Clasico glory at Barcelona, Mourinho slid on his knees in celebration in Barcelona.
The image of Mourinho celebrating in that fashion added another layer to a match already shaped by pressure, rivalry and expectation. He had been looking to end Barcelona’s winning run, and Real Madrid achieved that objective with a result that will stand out in the La Liga campaign.
Mourinho has long been associated with high-emotion moments in major football fixtures, and this Clasico produced another. His celebration reflected the significance of Real Madrid’s comeback and the importance of Mbappe’s late goals.
Barcelona’s history bid falls short
Barcelona entered the Clasico with the chance to make La Liga history against Real Madrid, but the match ended in frustration for the home side. Their winning run was the target for Mourinho’s team, and Real Madrid found the answer through Mbappe.
The 2-1 scoreline tells a simple story, but the context made the outcome bigger. Barcelona’s aim was to extend their momentum and create history in the league. Real Madrid’s aim was to halt that progress and claim one of the season’s most important results.
In the end, Real Madrid succeeded. Mbappe’s double denied Barcelona the landmark they were chasing and gave Real the kind of victory that can shift the tone around a title race, even without the league table being part of the immediate picture.
What the result means
Real Madrid leave the Clasico with a famous 2-1 win, Mbappe leaves it as the decisive player, and Mourinho leaves it with a celebration that will be tied to the match. For Barcelona, the defeat ends their push for a historic La Liga moment against their biggest rivals.
The next focus for both clubs will be how they respond after a result of this scale. Real Madrid have momentum from a dramatic Clasico triumph, while Barcelona must move on from a night when Mbappe’s late double changed the match.
