Saudi Pro League results: Al-Qadisiyah top as Hilal, Nassr games postponed

Saudi Pro League Matchday 9 results: Al-Qadisiyah beat Abha to go top, three big games including Al-Ahli v Al-Nassr are postponed, and Ivan Toney leads the scoring chart with 11 goals.

Al-Qadisiyah sit top of the Saudi Pro League after a 2-1 win over Abha on Friday, but the headline clashes of Matchday 9 never happened: Al-Ahli against Al-Nassr, Al Riyadh against Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad against Al Shabab were all postponed. That leaves the Saudi Pro League table in an unusual state, with the leaders having played a game more than the three giants chasing them. This Roshn Saudi League results round-up covers every Matchday 9 fixture scheduled for 15 and 16 October 2026 and analyses the title race, the continental places, the relegation fight and the scoring charts.

Saudi Pro League results: Matchday 9

Only four of the seven fixtures in the data for this round were completed, and they produced 15 goals. Home sides won three of them, with Al-Fateh's 3-2 win at Al-Hazm the only away victory.

Al-Faisaly and Al Kholood were level 2-2 at the break in a lively game at Al Majma'a Sport City before the hosts found a winner for a 3-2 victory. Al Khaleej beat Al-Fayha 2-0 after a goalless first half in Saihat, and Al-Fateh, who had drawn 1-1 at the interval at Al-Hazm, scored twice after the restart to claim a precious three points. Al-Qadisiyah led Abha 1-0 at half-time and held on for a 2-1 win at the Prince Mohammed Bin Fahd Stadium.

Title race: Al-Qadisiyah lead, Al-Hilal hold a game in hand

Al-Qadisiyah sit first on 22 points from nine games, with seven wins, one draw and one defeat, 23 goals scored and only nine conceded. Their form line reads W-W-D-W-W (most recent first), making them one of the most consistent sides in the division.

The real story, however, is the game in hand. Al-Hilal are second on 21 points from eight matches and have the best record in the league on paper: seven wins, one defeat, 26 goals scored, seven conceded and a +19 goal difference, the best in the competition. If they win their postponed match against Al Riyadh, they would go top. Al-Nassr (19 points) and Al-Ittihad (17) are also on eight games, so the postponements have frozen the title picture rather than resolved anything.

AFC places: who is heading to Asia?

The descriptions in the official standings show the stakes in the top seven. The first four places lead to the AFC Champions League Elite league phase, fifth goes to Champions League Elite qualification, sixth to the AFC Champions League Two, and seventh to the Gulf Club Champions League. Here is how that looks right now:

  • Champions League Elite (league phase): Al-Qadisiyah (22), Al-Hilal (21), Al-Nassr (19), Al-Ittihad (17).
  • Champions League Elite (qualification): NEOM (16), the surprise package of the season so far.
  • AFC Champions League Two: Al-Ahli Jeddah (15).
  • Gulf Club Champions League: Al-Ettifaq (12).

Al-Ahli's place is notable. They have the league's leading scorer and the third-best attack (20 goals), but three defeats in eight games, and a W-W-L-W-L form line, have left them sixth. Their postponed meeting with Al-Nassr is one of the most important fixtures still to be rearranged. NEOM, meanwhile, share the meanest defence in the league with Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr (seven goals conceded each) and are just one point behind Al-Ittihad.

Relegation fight: Al Taawon and Abha still winless

The bottom three are marked for relegation to Division 1. Abha are last with two points from eight matches (no wins, two draws, six defeats), and Friday's narrow 2-1 defeat at Al-Qadisiyah was a missed chance to put a dent in the leaders. Al Taawon are 17th on three points with no wins and just three goals scored in eight games, the lowest total in the league. Al-Fateh are 16th on six points, though their 3-2 win at Al-Hazm was their first in five and means they are level with Al-Faisaly, who sit just above them with a game in hand and a better goal difference.

Above them, Al-Fayha and Al Shabab are on seven points each. Al Shabab's postponed game against Al-Ittihad means they too have a match in hand, but one win in eight is a poor return for one of the league's traditional powers.

Form guide in the Roshn Saudi League

Last-five sequences from the standings data, latest result first:

  • Al-Qadisiyah - W-W-D-W-W: 13 points from 15.
  • Al-Hilal - W-W-L-W-W: back-to-back wins since their only defeat.
  • Al-Nassr - W-D-W-L-W: solid if not spectacular.
  • Al Taawon - L-L-L-D-L: the worst run in the league.
  • Abha - L-D-L-L-L: four defeats in five.
  • Al Kholood - L-L-L-W-D: three straight losses after Thursday's 3-2 defeat at Al-Faisaly.

Saudi Pro League top scorers: Ivan Toney sets the pace

Al-Ahli striker Ivan Toney is running away with the scoring chart: 11 goals in eight appearances, four of them penalties, in just 594 minutes, which equals a goal every 54 minutes. Nobody else has more than five, and four players are tied on that number: his team-mate Trincão, NEOM's Alexandre Lacazette, Al-Ittihad's Youssef En-Nesyri and Al-Qadisiyah's Mateo Retegui.

5M. ReteguiAl-Qadisiyah FC5128

Toney's numbers make Al-Ahli's sixth place even more striking: the club's attack is clearly not the problem. Retegui's goals, by contrast, have helped fire Al-Qadisiyah to the top of the table.

What's next in the Saudi Pro League

Saudi Pro League football returns on Saturday 17 October, with the next kick-off at 15:40 GMT.
