Manchester City are the only perfect team in the Premier League after six rounds, with six wins from six and a three-point lead over Arsenal, while Brighton have the best goal difference in the division and three clubs - Bournemouth, Tottenham and Fulham - are still waiting for their first victory. With Matchday 7 kicking off on Saturday 17 October 2026, this Premier League table analysis breaks down the title race, the battle for Champions League and Europa League places, the relegation zone, the form teams and the Golden Boot race, before previewing the weekend's key fixtures.

The early picture is unusual in places. Only six points separate fourth-placed Brentford from 13th-placed Manchester United, and a crowded group of four clubs - Leeds, Hull City, Liverpool and Ipswich - are level on nine points between seventh and tenth. Three teams remain unbeaten: City, Brentford and Everton.

Title race: Manchester City set a perfect pace

Manchester City have 18 points from a possible 18, with 16 goals scored and only five conceded. Their form line is a clean W-W-W-W-W, and they also have two of the top three scorers in the league: Erling Haaland with six goals and Rayan Cherki with four goals and two assists.

Arsenal are the closest challengers on 15 points. They won their latest match after a defeat the round before, and their form line of W-L-W-W-W means four wins in five. Their defence has conceded only five goals, sharing the best record in the division with City, Brighton, Everton and Leeds, but their attack has produced ten goals, fewer than four other clubs, which is the main difference between them and City so far.

Brighton are the surprise of the early season in third on 13 points. Their 18 goals are the most in the league and their +13 goal difference is the best, even ahead of City. After a draw and a defeat earlier in their form line, they have won their last three (W-W-W-D-L), and they host Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Champions League and Europa League places

The table currently awards Champions League league-phase places to the top four and a Europa League league-phase place to fifth. On those terms, City, Arsenal, Brighton and Brentford occupy the Champions League spots, with Everton fifth.

Brentford and Everton are level on ten points with identical records of two wins, four draws and no defeats; Brentford edge fourth on goal difference (+6 to +3). Both have drawn three of their last four. Chelsea are also on ten points in sixth with the most entertaining record in the top half: 15 scored and 13 conceded. Behind them, Leeds, Hull and Liverpool are only a point back.

Liverpool's start is the big talking point. Ninth with nine points, two wins, three draws and a defeat, with seven goals scored and seven conceded, they are already nine points off the top after six games.

Relegation fight: Tottenham, Fulham and Bournemouth still winless

The bottom three are marked for relegation to the Championship. Tottenham are 19th with three points from three draws and three defeats, and their three goals scored is the lowest total in the Premier League. Fulham are bottom with two points (two draws, four defeats), while Bournemouth are 18th on three points, ahead of Spurs on goals scored.

Just above them, Sunderland (4 points) have lost their last three matches, and Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest are on five points. Villa's record of one win in six with 11 goals conceded is a worrying start. Of the promoted sides, Hull (9 points) and Ipswich (9) are in the top half, while Coventry City lost four of their first six games but have won their last two to climb to 14th on six points.

Form guide: who is flying and who is struggling

  • Manchester City - W-W-W-W-W: the only 100 per cent record in the league.
  • Arsenal - W-L-W-W-W: four wins in five.
  • Brighton - W-W-W-D-L: three straight wins in their latest outings.
  • Fulham - L-D-D-L-L: winless and bottom of the table.
  • Sunderland - L-L-L-D-W: three straight defeats going into the weekend.
  • Coventry City - W-W-L-L-L: two wins in a row after three straight defeats.
  • Bournemouth - L-L-D-D-D: two straight defeats and no win in six.

Premier League top scorers: Haaland leads again

Erling Haaland heads the Golden Boot race with six goals in six games, all from open play. Chelsea have two players in the top four, with Joao Pedro (five goals, three assists in only five appearances) and Morgan Rogers (four goals, one assist). Liverpool's Alexander Isak has four goals in five matches.

Joao Pedro's eight goal involvements are the most of any player in the top ten, and he has managed them in 432 minutes. Hull's Algerian winger Mohamed Belloumi, with three goals and two assists, is the standout performer among the promoted clubs.
